Dreamboat

Dreamboat
In my ongoing “Bachelor” series I bring you Ryan. He’s a total dreamboat working with me at the foundation. That’s right ladies – good looking AND works to save lives. He’s a bit younger than me, actually the same age as my brother who I never see anymore, so I’ve adopted him as my baby-bro fill-in. I think he looks up to me.

Ready
Gettin’ Ready for spring? I have to say, I’m excited for my first, conceivably, “not crazy” first spring living in Ottawa. The advantages for me this year? I didn’t: just move here, start a new job, have a son in the NICU, buy a new house.

What I DO have is this 100mm f/2.8 macro lens I got for Christmas that I need to make sure to slap onto a tripod for once and put to good use… and a 1 year-old itching to crawl through mud and dirt for the first time. Good fun.

I’m finding these underpasses fascinating – though I’m not sure if anyone else out there is, lemme know what you think in the comments and if this is boring, I may just change direction a bit sooner.

I walk to work every day, but one of the best things about my course is that there are MANY routes I could take without compromising my timing. Since Ottawa’s a new city to me, photographing everything comes a bit more naturally than it did in Toronto – I’m not biased by what I’ve already seen. These past few series have photos have been shot in the underpasses of “The Queensway” the main highway intersecting Ottawa from East to West.

Aside from one, I’ve taken all of these at a 16×9 ratio on my LX3 and done some minimal adjustments in Lightroom.

Thanks to everyone who entered my name that photo contest from last week. But like the Highlander there can only be one: Owen’s title “Crackle” just seemed to resonate with me – so congrats man – send me an E-mail with your deets and what image you’d like to see in an 8×12 (or equivalent) from this site and it’s yours.

I have a feeling that Josh won’t be too impressed with today’s post. He’s been great at being the symmetry police on my last few posts – a compositional talent that I seem to be lacking.

I’m still getting some feedback from the “name that photo” contest from a few days ago, so I’ll likely leave it open for the weekend. If you want to share your thoughts about which one you like best (I’m going for the more simple titles) feel free to follow me on twitter. Otherwise have a good one – I’ll likely be walking through more underpasses.
