For the third year in a row I was a sponsor at the Greater Ottawa Home Builders Association Housing Design Awards. Of course, I was also the photographer for a number of finalists and, of course, winners. In this post I’ll focus on the residential photography I did for RND Construction and their partners.

65 Merton (exterior at top) was a finalist in the “Custom Urban Home, Multi-Unit (2-6 Units)” category. It faced some stiff competition with so much urban infill being developed in Ottawa. I was disappointed that we were only able to work on one of the two units, as the other homeowner was unavailable when we were shooting. That said, this project won the award for “Housing Details” with the submission of its interior bridge.

This Alta Vista home saw a remarkable transformation. Aided by a mere 2ft extension at the back, they were able to completely overhaul their kitchen and rear entrance. A finalist in “Custom Kitchen (241 sq. ft. or more) Contemporary, $74.999 and under”, and the winner for “Renovation $100,000 – $199,999”.

Another transformative reno, this kitchen photographed incredibly well, and was a finalist in the “Renovation under $60,000” category.
A lovely large bungalow on the Ottawa River, the renovation projects in this home were broken up into two categories. The downstairs bathroom was redone, as well as an addition and update to the kitchen.
Finalist in the “Custom Bathroom 100sq. ft. or less” category. It photographed beautifully, especially given its size.
I found the kitchen to be particularly impressive, as it incorporated the old “half” of the space with a recent update seamlessly. Finalist in “Renovation $60,000-$99,999”.
RND Construction also won a number of other awards including “Custom builder of the year”. Congratulations to Roy and his team on some incredible work. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next year!
