Skógafoss

Skógafoss
Skógafoss was the second major waterfall I visited on my trip, and the first place I set up camp (you can camp at the base of the waterfall, though I opted to move a bit back).

I took many photos of it at the time, and the next day I decided to walk up river from it – 3 hours later I had almost filled my 4GB memory card (Xtreme II in case PJ or Josh were wondering) with shots of waterfalls.
All of which were very beautiful, but seriously, how many waterfalls do you need photos of?

After that hike I didn’t take many more, considering that every kilometre or so there’s another waterfall, or some form of glacier run-off.

Parliamental Rift

Parliamental Rift
Apparently the old Viking parliament of Iceland used to meet here, this was their spot, and the lawspeaker would speak on the law stone… or the speaking stone… or the conch or whatever.

This is also the place where the North American and Eurasian continents meet… or split – geography’s all very confusing, but anyway that’s what the cliff is, part of the Atlantic Ridge; the only place where it rises above sea level.

Around the corner from this? The drowning pool. It’s where they drowned women guilty of adultery or other sins, like failing to make an adequate sandwich.

Klapparstig

Klapparstig
Reykjavik, for me, was a surprisingly dull city.

Granted, I can’t party like I used to, so going out for the all night benders was out of the question (that and $10 pints are unappealing) I found the daytime city to be quite grey.
Literally, since there was very little colour in the buildings and apparently people in Iceland decided to build their capital in the most overcast part of the country. Way to go!

Shrued

Shrued
This is my submission for Shrued-esque photo of the week.

If you haven’t checked out Jonathan Greenwald’s site you should, if you live in Toronto or New York, chances are he’s taken a picture of you at random at some point.

I'm Back

I'm Back
A day late for father’s day, but the caption for this one would read something like:
“Dad, when I grow up, I want to be just like you…”
