Untitled 4
Another crappy garage in the hood.

I feel like it’s the Ottawa equivalent of a shanty town, I half expect to see corrugated metal sheets housing orphans and some Christian aid spokesperson asking me to put “starvin marvin” through school. Though usually I only see kids smoking pot and dog shit.

Are you folks following me on the Twitter yet? I’ve been trying to filter out the regular noise of my mind (what I ate, what I’d like to eat, type of coffee I’m having) and provide some relevant information SOMETIMES – photography, weird things I run into while trying to raise money to fight Cancer in Ottawa… that sort of thing.

Granted, I suppose I don’t do much of that here either – I’m not just a pretty face – okay, I’m that too.

I think, with a few exceptions, I’ve processed all my posts this year in Adobe Lightroom. I HEART it. It’s really forced me to take better photos… granted they’re not all GOOD, but I think they’re getting better.

Now if you want to see some stuff that’s been through Photoshop – check this guy out – there’s a before and after for all of his photos (which are great “before”) and even some downloadable PSD files to see how he did it.

Generally, I have been unimpressed with Ottawa Graffiti – in my neighbourhood at least.

Thanks friends for sending Mel your support yesterday! Even though you may not know me, or her, the sentiment is truly appreciated – AWESOME!!

The weekend here in Ottawa, and most of Ontario, looks like it’s going to be incredible – so I hope to get a good chance to take the camera out on a roam, probably find a few new spots since it’s been a while since I saw something new in this town.
More to the point, I’d like to take my TRIPOD out – I don’t do it enough and like, how I’ve previously said, the photos I take with LIGHT are better than those I don’t – the photos I take on a tripod are better than those I don’t. Mostly because I’m taking the time to conceptualize and see my shot, and also because I have these damn “shaky” coffee hands. A good ball-head certainly helps, and thanks to David DuChemin I’ve found a good one.

In his words: “I find I use my tripod more now because I hate it less!”.
