My first task was the expansive lobby. Warm and cozy, the wood tones and tungsten lighting meant, to me, that I needed to photograph the space going on dusk. Daylight would of course be how most people experience the space, but to really bring out the design and textures we planned for a later-afternoon shoot.
We came back in when the renovations to the rooms were done to finish up our coverage of The Metcalfe. I very often find photographers approach small spaces with the widest angle lens they can. It’s a sure-way to make things appear more spacious and get *everything* in the frame. But we took a bit more time to construct panoramic images (photos stitched together from multiple frames) to more accurately represent the rooms without significant distortion. Each room is just a little bit unique. 4té took advantage of the old property by selectively revealing some of the brickwork.
And then, of course, some details (including custom logo-wallpaper!)
It was a long day, thankfully we had room service (the burger was delicious!).
